Both the gnomon and the dial show patina and wear. Wire connects the structural elements, and surface spotting is visible throughout the plate. The reverse shows concentric turning marks typical of brass lathe work. Made to function as a solar timekeeping instrument, the piece illustrates functional and decorative craftsmanship.
