This lot and the next offer two versions of J & E Stevens “Cupola Bank,” both still banks made in cast iron.  Circa 1870.  This red-roofed version is 5.5″ high, 3.5″ wide, 2.75″ deep without the steps.  Has the look of a bank or a schoolhouse.  Highly collectable. From Wikipedia:  J. & E. Stevens was a business in Cromwell, Connecticut formed by John and Elisha Stevens in 1843 to make cast iron hardware, hammers, and iron toys. The success of their toy products, including cap guns, led to a refocus on toys.”  The company was bought out in 1950.
