Signed oil painting on canvas depicting a mallard duck floating on a quiet marsh pond, surrounded by cattails and grasses with a wooded shoreline in the distance. The scene is rendered in muted blue, green, gray, and earth tones, with the mallard and its reflection forming the focal point. Signed “THEODORE” at the lower right.
Measures approximately 32” x 26.5” overall including the frame. Presented in a gold-tone wood frame with a light fabric-lined inner border.
Condition: Painting has significant age/use-related damage, including multiple punctures and tears through the canvas, primarily in the upper and middle background areas. Several punctures have visible fraying and canvas loss around the openings. There is also a longer scratch/surface abrasion with paint loss toward the lower portion of the painting, along with scattered marks and general surface wear. The frame has scratches, scuffs, finish wear, and other cosmetic wear. The central mallard remains largely unaffected by the canvas punctures and the painting still presents well as a decorative piece from a distance.
A decorative wildlife and sporting art piece suited for a hunting lodge, cabin, lake house, den, or restoration project.
