Framed still life painting depicting an unusual tabletop arrangement with a white coffee or tea service, cups and saucers, serving tray, envelope or card, and a small revolver. Fine translucent, web-like strands are intentionally painted across the tea service and surrounding objects, adding a distinctive surreal quality to the composition.
A small artist monogram or signature is present in the lower right corner, though it is not clearly legible enough to confidently identify the artist. The reverse of the frame bears the handwritten notation “I. Darbee,” which may relate to the artist or a prior owner, though this has not been independently verified.
Measures approximately 18” x 22” overall including the frame. Presented in a simple wood frame with a wide light fabric-covered inner border and hanging wire on the reverse.
Pre-owned vintage condition with age-related wear. Artwork shows scattered surface marks, light scratches, discoloration/soiling, and general wear. Fabric inner border has scattered spotting and discoloration. Frame shows scratches, scuffs, finish wear, nicks, and other cosmetic wear. Reverse backing has staining, marks, and general age-related wear.
An unusual and intriguing still life combining a traditional tea service with a revolver and intentionally painted web-like elements, making it a distinctive conversation piece.
