Item description:

Designation: 2006-P Westward Journey Nickel Series – “Return to Monticello” Original Wrapped Roll
Mintage Year: 2006
Mint Location: Philadelphia Mint (“P” Mint Mark featured on wrapper)
Denomination: Five Cents ($0.05 USD / $2.00 Total Face Value per Roll)
Composition: 75% Copper – 25% Nickel
Grade/Condition: Brilliant Uncirculated (BU)
Design & Series Significance:
Historical Context: This release marks the culmination of the highly popular 2-year US Mint Westward Journey Nickel Series commemorating the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Obverse: Features Jamie Franki’s historic first-ever “face forward” modern presidential portrait of Thomas Jefferson. It incorporates a script rendering of the word “Liberty” modeled after Jefferson’s own historical handwriting.
Reverse: Designed by Felix Schlag and finely detailed by John Mercanti, this reverse marks the return of a freshly chiseled, classic depiction of Thomas Jefferson’s historic Monticello estate.
Condition & Packaging Notes:
Wrapper Integrity: Housed in the authentic, original blue, red, and white United States Mint paper wrapper. The wrapper is structurally intact with tight, unbroken factory-crimped machine ends.
Coin Condition: Both visible “end coins” show striking, full satin mint luster. The obverse face shows crisp facial textures, sharp hair detail strikes, and flawless script lettering. The internal unexposed coins remain untouched in pristine, uncirculated condition.
