Item description:

This exceptional estate find features an authentic vintage 1970s Channel Master tabletop portable cassette recorder integrated with a dual-band AM/FM radio. Housed in a handsome black polymer cabinet accented by retro faux-woodgrain paneling and a striking slatted speaker grille overlay, it perfectly captures the peak of mid-century electronics styling.

Interface & Controls: Features a top-loading tape deck mechanism with a clear viewing window and an automated mechanical pop-up door. The mechanical piano-key control deck includes dedicated keys for Record, Rewind, Fast Forward, Play, and a combined Stop/Eject bar. The front-slanted panel holds a high-visibility analog tuner scale (FM 88–108 MHz / AM 54–160 KHz), a built-in condenser microphone grid, an adjustable dial thumbwheel, and toggle switches for Tone, Volume, and Function Selection.
Antenna & Power: Built with a long, multi-section chrome telescopic swivel antenna that nests neatly along the side casing. This dual-power unit runs on a standard attached two-prong AC cord or portably via the integrated bottom battery compartment.
Packaging: A highly collectible “New in Box” (NIB) presentation, coming complete with its original vintage cardboard retail storage box printed with the bold geometric design pattern, model designation “CHANNEL MASTER 6312”, and product headline “CASSETTE RECORDER WITH AM-FM RADIO”.
Era: Retro 1970s / Mid-Century Modern.
Condition: Tested and working. Both the AM/FM radio tuner bands and the mechanical tape playback/recording drives are fully operational. The exterior cabinet and woodgrain elements are exceptionally clean with zero deep gouges or structural cracks, and the piano keys respond with a firm click. The tape well interior, metallic playheads, and rubber pinch rollers are remarkably pristine and free of brown oxide dust. The side chrome antenna extends straight without bends, the attached power cord is highly flexible, and the internal battery compartment springs are completely free of historical battery acid corrosion. The original retail box lid is not attached, honest age-appropriate shelf wear and edge scuffs that do not compromise its excellent display quality.
