Item description:

Designation: 1879 United States George T. Morgan Silver Dollar Business Strike
Mintage Year: 1879 (Second year of issuance for the historic series)
Mint Location: Philadelphia Mint (Struck without a mint mark during this era)
Denomination: One Dollar ($1.00 USD)
Composition: 90% Silver, 10% Copper (0.7734 Troy Ounce pure silver weight)
Grade/Condition: Circulated / Fine to Very Fine (Mixed F–VF Details)
Historical Context & Design Details:
An Era of Western Expansion: Minted during the secondary production year of the Morgan Silver Dollar program, a series authorized by the historic Bland-Allison Act to absorb massive quantities of silver flowing out of the Nevada Comstock Lode.
The Obverse: Features George T. Morgan’s iconic, left-facing profile portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap decorated with cotton and wheat sheaves, flanked by 13 stars and the foundational year "1879".
The Reverse: Features a powerful, slender heraldic bald eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch within a laurel wreath, underneath the gothic font inscription "In God We Trust".
Condition & Eye Appeal Notes:
Surfaces & Wear: Features an attractive, honest circulated medium-gray charcoal patina with deep fields outlining the design elements. Typical for a well-preserved business strike, honest circulation flatting is present on the high points of Liberty’s hair curves over the ear, the cotton bolls, and the reverse eagle's breast plumage.
Details Analysis: The date inscriptions, edge stars, and individual letters within the motto remain completely crisp and highly readable. No harsh cleaning lines, deep graffiti, or major gouges alter the fields.
Rim/Presentation: The outer reeded edge and protective circular rim are solid and uniform. Cleanly secured inside a protective round acrylic coin capsule.
