Condition Overview
Franklin Steel Racquets: The four contemporary-vintage steel racquets are in structurally stable, functional condition. The slim red and blue painted metal frames and shafts are straight and free of major structural bends. The synthetic strings remain tight and intact with uniform tension. The textured black plastic handles are firmly attached, displaying minor surface scuffing and faint adhesive storage residue along the white plastic throat cones.
Vintage Wooden Racquets: The four mid-century wooden racquets exhibit a highly authentic, weathered athletic patina. The multi-ply laminated ash oval heads are structurally sound with no catastrophic cracks, though the frames display widespread clear lacquer checking, surface scuffs, and localized orange paint chipping along the outer rims. The tight nylon strings are intact across all four racquets. The decorative throat decals are mostly complete, including a crisp "King" logo badge and a colorful Spalding "All Court" emblem. The handles feature historical black friction tape grips that show considerable edge fraying, flattening, and minor wood exposure at the bottom knobs.
