Description: A charming five-piece country kitchen vanity and tabletop accent group lot. The focal centerpiece is an antique Italianate woven lattice or openwork porcelain basket decorated with high-relief applied porcelain rose blossoms and green leaves wrapping the upper braided collar. Accompanying the basket is a matching pair of mid-century footed egg cups or small goblets finished in a rich chocolate brown glaze with bright yellow accents and high-relief rooster profiles. The lot is completed by an oval dark blue glazed ceramic soap dish tray and an iridescent mosaic glass tile trinket basin.
Dimensions: The porcelain lattice rose basket stands 5.25 inches tall by 7.25 inches in diameter across the upper rim. The two matching rooster footed cups each stand 3.5 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter. The dark blue ceramic basin dish measures 5.5 inches in length by 4.25 inches wide.
Markings: The underside bases of the rooster goblets retain their original circular silver foil factory labels reading "ORIGINAL DESIGN / Copyright 1953 / Cal-Pacific Import Co. / Los Angeles / JAPAN" surrounding an illustrated ship graphic. The undercarriage of the white lattice basket is hand-written with the production code "4/4117" below a faded circular stamped factory mark belonging to Abingdon Pottery (or an affiliate Italian import mark from firms such as Carbone or DePaoli).
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The porcelain lattice rose basket, Cal-Pacific rooster cups, and both trinket trays are structurally sound and entirely free of chips, cracks, or hairline fractures. The white lattice basket features a beautiful fine glaze micro-crazing network across its base interior and exterior walls from age, along with minor shelf-wear smoothing. The iridescent mosaic tile tray features tight, stable black grout and reflective tile surfaces with no loose panels.
