Item description:

Description: A primitive two-piece architectural salvage and hardware estate lot. The grouping features a heavy, neoclassical footed compote bowl or garden urn sculpted with a Greek key patterned upper rim collar over a lobed or gadrooned lower body bowl, finished in a weathered ivory-cream enamel. Accompanying the bowl is an antique mechanical hanging entryway pull-bell or service bell system, featuring a highly ornate cast metal hanger bracket detailed with double scrolled stylized horse head profiles highlighted by orange enamel accents. The hanger connects via a central iron chain link to a flared dome service bell mechanism.
Dimensions: The neoclassical cream compote bowl measures 9 inches in width by 7.5 inches in depth, standing 5.5 inches in height. The cast iron horse-bracket bell assembly stands 14.25 inches in total vertical height with a bell base diameter of 4.5 inches.

Markings: The upper tip of the ornamental horse-head bracket features an embossed factory tracking number reading "1005". The interior basin of the flared iron bell features an embossed manufacturer trademark reading "THE C.S. BELL CO. / HILLSBORO, O." surrounding a patent mark string. The footed compote bowl contains a partial rear casting mark along the open under-base recess thread.
Condition: Authentic antique condition with an aged, weathered patina. The cream-painted compote bowl is structurally solid and heavy, displaying localized finish scratches, small paint chips down to the raw cast base metal along the outer rim edge, and light underside surface tarnish. The C.S. Bell Co. cast iron pull assembly is intact with its original internal incomplete clapper; the metal surfaces show advanced surface oxidation, variable dark patina, and localized finish thinning.
