NOTE: The Thoeny family have successfully farmed on this farm for over 47 years, now due to Don’s back surgeries they have decided to discontinue the dairy portion of their farming operation. The Thoeny family is well known in the area as good friends and neighbors. Mid-American Auction Co. is honored to be selected to conduct the Thoeny Farms complete dairy dispersal auction and selected farm machinery that will no longer be needed when dairy cattle are sold. Please note that all dairy cows and closer springing heifers will sell under cover on day one, Thursday, April 27th beginning at 11:00 a.m. Day two, Friday, April 28th we will be selling all farm machinery, dairy equipment, bulk bins and livestock equipment, followed by all short bred and open Holstein heifers and calves selling under cover. Selling 177 Outstanding, High Producing, Official DHIA Registered & High Grade Holstein Dairy Cows & Springing Heifers

NOTE: This is an exceptional herd of well uddered, high producing Holstein cattle. The Thoeny’s goal the past 47 years has been to produce sound functional cattle that combine production, longevity and soundness in their herd replacements. The herd has been on official DHIA testing for decades with current records indicating a herd average of 2X 23,900 pounds of milk, excellent 4.2% 1000 pounds of fat and 3.2% 764 fat. Tank average 74 pounds with 23 over 100 pounds on last test. No BST. SCC well under 100,000 with the Thoeny herd placing in the top 100 herds in Minnesota for lowest SCC counts for 4 consecutive years. Numerous quality milk awards. Buyers will appreciate the excellent udders, feet, legs and overall mobility of this set of cows. Cows are milked in a double 8 parallel parlor and housed in a compost pack, loose housing facility. This herd has been on an intense herd health program for many years through the Mille Lacs Vet Clinic at Milaca, MN. All eligible females are Bangs vaccinated. This herd has been on a Johnes testing program for many years as well as being BLV tested and TB tested prior to the auction. A veterinarian will be on hand sale day to provide health papers for out-of-state buyers if needed. The herd has been genetically mated for years using leading NM & TPI bulls, including but not limited to sires: Mogul, Shottle, Dorcy, Planet, Ladd-P, Redburst, Fever, Windbrook, Baltimore, Jett Air. Service Sires include: Silver, Commander, Utah, Merjack, Scenario, Cargo and Monterey. Over the years the Thoeny’s have produced several polled individuals that are included in this complete dispersal. Hooves trimmed monthly. Selling: (150) Outstanding Holstein Cows

Approx. 50 are Registered, 45 are Fresh in the past 90 days with 36 due in the next 60 days. Balance are fresh, bred back and in full production. Approx 100 head in their first and second lactations. Exclusively AI sired and bred. Papers will be furnished by sellers on any registered cattle. Also included is a 3-year-old Registered Brown Swiss, due by sale date, and her yearling Registered Heifer.

 

Springing Heifers

Day One will include (27) Fancy Springing Heifers with 7 Due in April, 6 Due May, 3 June and 11 Due July. All AI Sired, AI Bred and Out of Top Thoeny Dams, includes some Registered Individuals.
