The story of the COPO (Central Office Production Order) Camaro is well known among muscle car enthusiasts. The ability to order specially equipped high-performance cars, unknown to the general public, was a loophole around the rules of GM. Making the average iron block 427 Camaro look an everyday occurrence is COPO option code 9560, or ZL1 as it’s better known. With only 69 produced altogether, ZL1s are the rarest and most desirable Camaros ever built. They had an all-aluminum (block and heads) 427 cubic inch motor that was light and produced a tremendous amount of horsepower. With only professional racers in mind, the cost of this optional drivetrain was an astronomical $4,160, more than the price of a base model V8 Camaro.
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro replicates the incomparable, highly coveted ZL1-powered COPO 9560, of which only 69 examples were factory built. Beneath the cowl-induction hood is a GM all-aluminum ZL1 427/430 HP engine, casting number 3946053 (tel:3946053), driving a M22 Muncie 4-speed manual and 4.10 Posi-Traction rear differential. This Camaro is finished in the attractive and desirable code 52 Garnett Red) complemented by a factory-correct Red interior.
As original ZL1s are extremely rare and valuable, this Camaro provides the same driving experience and look for a fraction of the price!
