1962 STC-2004 all-welded steel deck barge originally constructed by St. Louis Shipbuilding as a tank barge and later converted for deck barge service. This vessel measures approximately 240 feet in length, 50 feet in beam, and 12 feet in depth, with a Gross Tonnage of 1,263. Official No. 287354, ABS ID No. 6203848.
The STC-2004 features a long bow rake, deep notched stern, and partial steel cargo wall. The vessel is divided into multiple void compartments by five transverse bulkheads and one longitudinal bulkhead. The stern notch compartment is reported to be of relatively newer steel construction and was noted to be in generally good condition with minimal corrosion.
According to the April 30, 2026 condition survey, the exterior hull above the waterline appeared to be in fair overall condition, exhibiting typical service-related dents and abrasions. Interior inspection revealed varying degrees of corrosion, prior repairs, bent and fractured framing, and deck truss damage throughout several compartments. Previous repairs utilizing smaller channel sections and non-standard repair techniques were documented in multiple void spaces.
The vessel currently carries a Great Lakes Load Line Assignment; however, the Load Line has not been renewed due to the vessel’s present condition. Survey findings indicate that portions of the after bottom shell plating are below allowable limits and that replacement of bottom shell plating and repairs to internal framing would likely be required to satisfy ABS requirements for Load Line renewal.
