The Hakim Rifle is a semi-automatic rifle that was developed In Sweden from the Carl Gusave AG42 Ljungman 6.5x55mm rifle. The Egyptians liking the rifle during the 1950s acquired the machinery to produce this rifle in 8mm Mauser because of the abundance of 8mm ammo they had since the Second Word War. It was intended to replace the bolt-action Lee-Enfield rifles that were in use by the Egyptian military at the time. The rifle was re-designed by Dr. Abd al-Hakim Amer, who was Egypt’s Minister of War at the time, hence the name “Hakim” (which means “wise” or “judicious” in Arabic). The Hakim Rifle uses the 8mm Mauser cartridge and has a 10rnd detachable box magazine. It has a gas-operated action and a tipping bolt. It was produced at the Maadi Company for Engineering Industries (also known as the Maadi Company for Engineering and Manufacturing) in Maadi, Egypt. The rifle was used by the Egyptian military and police, as well as by several other countries in the Middle East and Africa. This is a great example with a lot of character that should fit right into any semi-auto or Middle Eastern rifle collection. Has signs of use as a surplus military rifle with caricature. Please see photos.
