Even though this Trapdoor rifle is marked 1884 on the top of the breechblock, as per serial number this rifle is a Model 1888 Trapdoor manufactured in 1892 and was one of the last run before the U.S. military transitioned to smokeless powder. The U.S. 1884 roll-stamp was used on all Trapdoor rifles till the very end in 1893. It has a U.S. Springfield and Eagle stamp on the locking plate and VP P and A stamp on the barrel, U.S stamp on the steel buttplate along with cleaning tool stock compartment, and the �unique bayonet cleaning rod� under the barrel, left side stock cartouche SWP 1892, and Buffington adjustable rear sight with front blade sight. In its original patina with the usual scratches, dents, and dings. Please see photos.
