Manufactured in 1944 as per serial number. This M1 Carbine with an Inland receiver and a Rock-Ola barrel dated 3-43 is a standard post-war arsenal rebuild and not a Rock-Ola Line-Out factory variant. Because USGI parts were fully interchangeable, determining which one you have depends heavily on the specific markings and serial number on the receiver. Between June and July of 1943, Rock-Ola was struggling to manufacture enough receivers to keep up with their production goals. To prevent assembly lines from stopping, the Inland Division of General Motors shipped approximately 1,900 to 2,000 blank or completed receivers to Rock-Ola. During and after WWII, millions of M1 Carbines returned to military depots (such as Springfield Armory or Augusta Arsenal) to be overhauled, upgraded, and repaired . Rifles were completely disassembled, parts were thrown into giant bins to be cleaned, and armorers rebuilt them without regard to matching brands. It was incredibly common for an Inland receiver to be re-barreled with an available USGI surplus Rock-Ola barrel. Collectors call these “mixmasters”. They are excellent historical shooters. This example has been mounted in a current paratrooper side folding reproduction stock. Includes 1 – 20rnd magazine and an OD canvas sling. Please see photos.
