” Collectors” Manufactured in Jan 1938 this pre-WWII 4 digit serial number rifle. I believe the gas system was at one point changed from the earlier gas trap system to the more common gas port system that didn�t have fowling problems. The stock was also replaced at one time with a later M1 version because of the trap door buttplate and cleaning rod hole behind it as opposed to the non trap door on the earlier rifles. The rear sights have also been replaced with later versions. There are still proper M1 Garand military cartouches on the stock. Still this rifle is an extremely rare example M1 Garand because of the serial number and would be a complement to a collection. Please see photos. C&R
