The Smith & Wesson Model 640-1 was introduced in 1996 as the first J-frame 5 shot revolver chambered in .357 Magnum. It features a strengthened, slightly larger stainless steel frame compared to the original .38 Special model and a 2″ barrel. Production of this specific .357 Magnum variant continued through the late 1990s and into the 2000s. Includes the Factory Case with manual, standard short checkered polymer grip and larger laminated wood grip with the S&W logo on the right side. Please see photos.
