First year production manufactured in 1940 as per serial number. This Winchester Model 24 in 16ga is a classic, utilitarian side-by-side shotgun first introduced in 1940 to offer an affordable, rugged field gun. It was produced until 1958, it was made to be a workhorse known for its wide receiver and double triggers. There were 116,000 units produced in all before it was discontinued in 1958. It has a striker fired action with no internal hammers and an automatic safety. In its original patina with blued barrels, and some wear on the receiver and other metal parts. Smooth walnut forend and pistol grip stock with checkered bakelite factory buttplate with a LOP of 14.5”. Chambered for 2 ¾” shells with a fixed Modified left and Improved Cylinder right choke.
