Manufactured in 1976 as per serial number. Colt Trooper MK III is a robust double-action revolver known as an accessible, heavy-barreled alternative to the high-end Colt Python. Designed by Colt’s Manufacturing Company, it features a modernized lockwork system with stainless coil springs rather than older flat leaf springs. A 1976 model is particularly notable for being the premium, fully featured variant of the series. The MK III series was the first Colt revolver line to introduce a transfer bar lock system. This modern safety feature prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled completely to the rear. It features a heavy shrouded 4” barrel, adjustable rear target sights and checkered rubber factory Colt grips. Please see photos.
