Make: Remington
Model: 1880 Rolling Block Carbin
Caliber: .43 Cal
Action: Breach
Barrel: 20.5
Bore: Frosty
Serial # NSN
Condition: Good
An 1880 Remington Rolling Block carbine in .43 caliber most likely refers to a military rolling block rifle chambered in either the .43 Spanish (11.15x58R) or .43 Egyptian (11.38x49R) cartridge, which were popular military calibers for the large-frame rolling block rifles produced by Remington and its licensees in the late 19th century. These rifles were sold to various countries, with Spain and Egypt being major customers, leading to these commonly encountered calibers. It is believed that this is a Spanish Rolling Block version. This example seems to be in it’s original finish with about 95-98%. It does have some signs of wear and very litte rust and pitting on the barrel and receiver. “It is an old gun”. A very nice example for the collector or shooter for sure. It has a fixed front and flip rear sight that is loose fit, walnut forend and straight stock with steel curved buttplate, and a saddle ring mounted to the left side of the receiver. Has the signs of use on the wood furniture but not abused. Please see photos. No FFL
