The Marlin Model 989, primarily known as the Marlin 989 M2, was a .22 LR semi-automatic rifle produced from the mid-1960s to 1978, styled to resemble the U.S. M1 Carbine with a walnut stock, 18-inch barrel, and detachable box magazine (unlike the similar tubular-fed Model 99M1). It’s a reliable, carbine-like rimfire rifle valued by collectors for its unique look, often featuring Micro-Groove rifling and tapped receivers for scopes.
