Item description:

Large bisque Kewpie doll figure, standing approximately 12 inches tall. The doll is distinguished by its classic mischievous expression, pronounced cheeks, and characteristic topknot hairstyle, capturing the enduring charm of Rose O’Neill’s iconic Kewpie designs. The figure is composed of bisque porcelain and stands on an integrated round base, which is marked with “13” and other faint impressions, denoting its size and probable manufacturing batch. Both arms are presently detached but included with the doll, showing their original stringing construction and some wire remains. The paint is original, with visible wear and age-related discoloration, especially on the cheeks, feet, and topknot. The surface has some marks and minor chips, and there is a visible crack on the base, reflective of age-related fragility. This piece is an evocative display of early 20th-century dollmaking, ideal for restoration or as a display collectible.
